I went to see Oliver on Saturday night. It was a brilliant production of BABIRRA Music Theatre, "A non-professional company committed to excellence in musical theatre". I had two friends who were members of the ensemble for this production.
Its been many years since I saw this show and I throughly enjoyed it. I was really struck by one song: Who will buy?
In this song, Oliver who has been rescued from a crime gang by a wealthy man wakes to what is probably the nicest morning he has ever had. He sings:
Who will buy
This wonderful morning?
Such a sky
You never did see!
Who will tie
It up with a ribbon
And put it in a box for me?
So I could see it at my leisure
Whenever things go wrong
And I would keep it as a treasure
To last my whole life long.
For me, I thought what a good sentiment to try and wake to. Have a great day!
